On 17th June, 2023, a highly anticipated debate competition was held. The event was held for grades 6 and 7 separately , showcasing their impressive debating skills, critical thinking abilities, enhancing public speaking, and encouraging students to articulate their viewpoints effectively.
The debate competition witnessed participation from 24 enthusiastic students, 12 students from class 6, and 12 students from class 7. Each class was divided into four groups and was further divided into two sets of teams.
The competition followed a structured format, consisting of multiple rounds, including the opening statement, rebuttals, and the closing argument. The topics for each round were diverse and thought-provoking, covering a wide range of social and ethical issues.
A panel of judges, comprising teachers, had the responsibility of evaluating and scoring the participants based on their content, delivery, rebuttal skills, and overall presentation. The judges’ expertise ensured a fair and impartial evaluation process.
The topics for class 6 were:
“Is the rapid advancement of technology beneficial for society?”
Both groups played fair and were competitive. The debate ended with the opposition team winning with more points.
“Books are better than television”
Both groups played fair and were competitive. The debate ended with the proposition team winning with more points.

“Should the use of animals for scientific experimentation be abolished in favor of alternative methods?”

The debate competition proved to be a resounding success, providing a platform for students to showcase their oratory abilities, critical thinking, and persuasive skills. The commendable efforts of the students, combined with the support of the organizing committee, judges, and faculty, made the debate competition a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.
