The highly anticipated Extempore Competition for Grade 5 of Grace Academy took place on the 7th of October, 2023. This competition aimed to foster the development of public speaking skills, boost students’ confidence, and encourage them to think on their feet. The event was a success as we witnessed the 5th Grade students exhibit impressive oratory skills and creativity.

The competition consisted of two rounds. In the preliminary round, a total of 18 students took part. Each participant was given a chance to pick a topic, 20 seconds to collect and organise their thoughts and 1 minute 40 seconds to speak. The participants in the preliminary round spoke on a variety of topics which required them to recollect a personal experience/ preference or memory and  speak about it. At the end of the preliminary round, only 5 participants qualified for the final round. The rules and format for the final round remained the same. All the finalists exhibited commendable oratory skills. The participants were judged on their body language, speaking skills, stage presence and clarity of thoughts. After carefully assessing each finalist, the winners of the Grade 5 Extempore Competition were announced:

1st- Md. Zeedan Ahmed

2nd- Fiza Praveen

3rd- Amekali Zhimomi

This event highlighted the importance of nurturing the skills required for public speaking at an early age, as they are essential for personal development and future success. The competition also served as a reminder of the school’s commitment to fostering all-round development in its students.
