The Annual Extempore Speech Competition 2025 for Classes 8 and 9 was held on Wednesday, 13th August 2025 at the school auditorium. The event sought to encourage students to develop confidence, presence of mind, and clarity in spontaneous speaking.
The competition for Class 8 commenced at 9:00 am with miss Menuole-u as the Moderator. The programme began with an Invocation by miss Bendanglila, followed by the formal introduction of the participants. The contest was conducted in two rounds. In the first round, students spoke on general opinion-based topics, while the second round was reserved for the five finalists who were assigned topics from English. An audience round, conducted by madam Sademrenla, added an engaging dimension to the programme. After a keenly contested session, the winners were declared as follows:
- 1st Place – Thanggunhao Thomsong
- 2nd Place – Kilika Sema
- 3rd Place – Sahina Begum
The competition for Class 9 began at 12:15 pm with ma’am Pamela as the Moderator. The programme was formally opened with an Invocation by miss Rongsenkala. The structure of the competition mirrored that of Class 8, with two rounds: the first featuring general topics and the second focusing on English-based themes. An Audience Round was also conducted, followed by the declaration of results and prize distribution. The winners were as follows:
- 1st Place – Alovito Sumi
- 2nd Place – Illivi Zhimo
- 3rd Place – Wonjanbeni P. Kikon
The competitions were judged by Ma’am Pamela, Miss Chubatila, Miss Withiunile, Miss Menuole-u, and Miss Bendanglila, who also provided valuable feedback to the participants after each round. The programme concluded with a Benediction, invoking blessings for the students.
The smooth conduct of the event was made possible through the efforts of the Teacher In-charges, technical team, and support staff, including those in charge of timekeeping, score tallying, certificates and sound.
The Extempore Competition not only provided a platform for students to showcase their speaking skills but also helped foster critical thinking, quick reasoning, and eloquence. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation, spirited competition, and encouraging feedback, making it a resounding success.
