The Kindergarten Poem Recitation Competition was held with great enthusiasm and spirit on 13th August 2025. The event provided a wonderful platform for our young learners to showcase their talent, build confidence, and develop a love for language and poetry. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, encouragement, and the joyful sounds of children’s voices. This cherished event was orchestrated with the primary objective of nurturing a love for language and literature among our youngest learners. Beyond recitation, the competition aimed to build foundational confidence, develop public speaking skills, enhance auditory memory, and encourage creative expression in a supportive and joyful environment. It served as a celebratory platform for our children to showcase their hard work and unique personalities.
Judging Criteria
Within each classroom, performances were appreciated based on a shared understanding of core skills we aim to develop in our young orators. The focus was on celebrating individual growth and achievement. The following criteria guided the appreciation of each performance:
Memorization: The admirable effort to learn and recall the poem.
Clarity of Speech: Speaking clearly so every word could be enjoyed.
Expression & Emotion: Using one’s voice and face to tell the poem’s story.
Confidence: The bravery to stand up and share in front of peers.
Overall Presentation: The joy and individuality each child brought to their recitation.
The emphasis was on recognizing the incredible effort and courage displayed by every student in the class.
The children cheered for their friends, and the room was filled with laughter and applause. It was particularly moving to see the students encourage their peers, embodying the true spirit of community. The performances ranged from short, rhythmic rhymes in the Nursery classes to more expressive and complex poems in the Senior KG classes, each reflecting the unique personality of the child.
