The Extempore Speech Competition 2026 for Grade 8 was held on Thursday, 13th August 2026, in the School Auditorium. The competition aimed to nurture confidence, presence of mind, critical thinking, and effective communication skills among students through spontaneous public speaking.
The programme commenced at 9:50AM with Miss Chubatila serving as the Moderator. The event began with an invocation led by Miss Neizope U, followed by the introduction of the participants and an overview of the competition rules.
The competition was conducted in two rounds.
Round 1: General Topics
In the first round, participants drew topic chits from a selection of general-interest themes. Each student was allotted 20 seconds of preparation time before delivering a speech of up to two minutes. This round assessed the students’ spontaneity, creativity, confidence, and ability to organize their thoughts effectively within a short span of time.
Based on their performance, the following five participants advanced to the final round:

- Keniengulie Sekhose
- Sentimeren Andrew Jamir
Round 2: Subject-Based Topics
The finalists then competed in the second round, where they were assigned subject-based topics drawn from Science and English. As in the previous round, participants were given 20 seconds to prepare and were required to deliver a speech of up to two minutes. This round tested not only their speaking abilities but also their subject knowledge, analytical thinking, and clarity of expression.
Following the final round, the judges shared their observations, constructive feedback, and words of encouragement before announcing the results.

After the announcement of the results, the winners briefly shared their experiences and reflections, inspiring their peers through their insights and appreciation for the learning opportunity provided by the competition.
The event was judged by Ma’am Variechon, Miss Withiunile, and Miss Bendanglila, who carefully evaluated the participants and provided valuable feedback that highlighted both strengths and areas for improvement.
The programme concluded with a benediction, seeking blessings for the students and the school community.
The successful conduct of the competition was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Teacher In-charges, technical team, and student volunteers who efficiently managed timekeeping, score tallying, sound arrangements, and certificate preparation.
The Extempore Speech Competition served as an excellent platform for students to develop confidence, quick reasoning, eloquence, and public speaking skills. Marked by enthusiastic participation and healthy competition, the event was both enriching and memorable, leaving students motivated to continue honing their communication abilities.
