The Extempore Speech Competition 2026 for Class 6 was held at the School Auditorium, Grace Academy, with the aim of encouraging students to develop confidence, presence of mind, clarity of thought, fluency, and effective communication skills through spontaneous speaking.
The competition commenced at 8:40 a.m. with Miss Bendanglila and Miss Libo as the Moderators. The programme began with an Invocation by Miss Enali, followed by the formal introduction of the participants and an explanation of the rules and rounds.
The competition was conducted in two main rounds. Round 1 consisted of 16 students who were given topics that tested their ability to think spontaneously and express their ideas clearly. This was followed by the Audience Round, coordinated by Madam Sademrenla and Miss Mhachoni, which provided an additional opportunity for students to demonstrate their confidence and quick thinking. Based on their performances, the top five participants were shortlisted for Round 2.

The second round presented the finalists with more challenging topics, testing their ability to organise their thoughts, respond spontaneously, and deliver their speeches with confidence and clarity. The judges carefully assessed the participants on the basis of content, fluency, confidence, clarity, pronunciation, presentation, and spontaneous response.
Following a closely contested final round, the winners were declared as follows:
1st Position – Rushangthung Ethan Ezung
2nd Position – Abigail D Sangma
3rd Position – Mesheni Seb
The competition was judged by Miss Neizope U, Miss Chubatila, and Miss Withiu, who provided valuable feedback and encouragement to the participants throughout the competition. Their constructive observations helped the students understand the importance of clear expression, confidence, effective presentation, and quick thinking.
The smooth conduct of the programme was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Teacher In-charges and support team. Miss Enali and the volunteers assisted with certificate arrangements, while Sir Ahadur and Mughapuka managed screen projection and timekeeping. Sir Ata was responsible for the sound system, and Sir Imkongmar handled photography and videography. Sir Lui served as the Audience Round Observer.
The programme concluded with a Benediction by Sir Tinuakum, marking the successful completion of the event.
The Extempore Speech Competition 2026 for Class 6 proved to be a meaningful and enriching learning experience for the students. It provided them with an opportunity to think critically, organise their ideas quickly, respond confidently to unfamiliar topics, and communicate effectively before the audience. The enthusiastic participation of the students, healthy spirit of competition, and constructive feedback from the judges contributed to making the event engaging, educational, and successful.
